Happy New Year from the LSHS Band! The first few months of every year are very busy in the LSHS music department. Below are a few reminders of upcoming important dates:
Tuesday, Jan 5 – Band Booster meeting in the band room at 7 PM. Topics needing attention are the upcoming solo ensemble contest which we host (much help is needed, please volunteer here ASAP), financial needs of the band program moving into the future, and feedback on 2017 band trip options.
Friday, Jan 8 – Girl’s Basketball Pep Band
Tuesday, Jan 19 – Girl’s Hockey Pep Band
Friday, Jan 22 – Boys and Girls Basketball double header Pep Band
Saturday, Jan 23 – Solo Ensemble Contest at LSHS – All band students perform their entry for a judge and many volunteers are needed to run the largest contest in the state. There are 960 instrumental entries alone, this means a lot of people in our building and we need help welcoming them, guiding them, feeding them, etc, thank you in advance for volunteering! Students will receive their specific performance time(s) by Monday, January 11.
Looking ahead to February – There are two scheduled pep bands and multiple performances for the jazz bands at conference and district jazz festivals (all are on calendar).
