The Lakeville South Color Guard is an opportunity for students to engage in making music visually. Called the “Sport of the Arts” color guard uses flags, rifles, sabres and other equipment to add color, movement and visual elements to marching band field shows and parades. Lakeville South Color Guard runs nearly year round, with a strong focus on fundamentals and training in May, parades in the summer, field shows in the fall and a competitive winter guard program December-March.
Spring Training in May: In May, we focus on flag and rifle fundamentals. This is a great time for students interested in trying out color guard to come join us. This is a low-stress, high-fun time in our season.
Summer Season: June-July is parade season, and we love performing in 7 parades across Minnesota throughout these two months. Using the fundamentals learned in our spring training sessions, we perform 2 parade routines and provide color and visuals.
Fall Season: July-October brings us to the marching band field, where we perform a field show and pregame show at Lakeville South football games. We also compete with our field show in September and October.
Winter Season: December-March is our competitive indoor winter season. We compete in the Scholastic A division of the North Star Circuit.
