The Lakeville South Marching Band has been hard at work over the last week preparing their new pre-game show for home football games. Mr. Bieniek is very proud of how much progress has been made in that short time and is excited by the drive of the group to put together a performance they can be proud of! Students have had the opportunity to view their daily progress via the rehearsal videos being posted to the band website under the High School Band tab. Below are a few very important reminders about this Friday’s home football game performance and the preparations everyone needs to be aware of.
Uniforms: Any student that has not been fitted for and given a uniform MUST attend our final fitting night on Thursday, August 27 between 6 and 8:30 pm. This is the last chance to obtain a uniform for Friday night’s and all following performances.
Shoes: Student shoe orders came in today and will be distributed tomorrow (Thursday). These shoes should be worn every time we are in uniform with BLACK SOCKS!!!! 🙂 In the event that a student did not turn in a shoe order, they should wear black shoes and turn in a Shoe Order form for a future delivery.
Parent Volunteers: We need volunteers! Our band booster leadership has made it very easy to sign up to help. Please go to the booster page on the band’s website and sign up to help at one or a couple events. From what I have been told, many of the parents that helped a lot last year were parents of last year’s seniors, so we need a new group 🙂 In addition, many of the events require us to inform the school of what parents are helping out,last minute sign-ups make this impossible for us….So, please visit the above mentioned booster volunteer page and select a date that works for you!
Game Day: Our final full rehearsal is Thursday from 9-3. Friday’s schedule is as follows:
3-5 pm – Rehearsal (bring uniforms and hang them up in the band room)
5 pm – Dinner (The boosters order pizza and bring fruit and drinks for the kids each football game so we can rehearse and eat together as a band. The students must sign up for this meal by the Thursday of the game week on the sheet outside Mr. Bieniek’s office and then bring $2 to dinner.)
5:45-6:00 pm – Get into uniforms
6 pm – Warm-Ups
6:20 pm – March to football field
6:46 pm – Perform pre-game show
7 pm – Kick-off – The band will perform in the stands during the game and will be dismissed following the game, at which time they will take very good care of their uniforms 😉
